The ski and hiking area Diavolezza is situated above the villages Pontresina in the Upper Engadin. You get here with the Rhaetian Railway (RhB), over different passes or with the airplane.
There is a legend associated with Munt Pers, which gave Diavolezza its name: «La Diavolezza» - the beautiful she-devil. Long, long ago, a beautiful mountain fairy lived on the mountain, in her rocky fortress high up between Chapütschöl and Munt Pers where, surrounded by towering crags and vast expanses of rocky scree, a deep-blue lake mirrors the sunlight amid a flower-strewn mountain pasture, where herds of sprightly chamois gambol around and graze on the lush green grass, where ptarmigans cluck and cackle, take flight and then elegantly glide to the ground to feed and cackle some more, and where wide-eyed mountain hares daydream, then suddenly start and dash off in a long-limbed gallop.
Diavolezza Bernina is original and unspoilt. A world of glaciers and adventure all in one. Piz Bernina at 4049 metres is the highest mountain in Graubünden and the glacier run at Morteratsch/Isla Persa is the longest and most impressive in the Engadin. The ski runs around the glacier chairlift and the run down to the valley can also be enjoyed by less experienced skiers and by families. Lagalb has steeper and more demanding slopes and is therefore only suitable for good skiers and snowboarders.
